nicaragua in 5 days

just a small sampling of photos from Alvaro's time in Nicaragua. He took a friend, Steve, with on this trip who happens to be on the Board of Directors for newHOPE Nicaragua as well.  He fell in love with the people and the country!  An amazing time of meeting and connecting with pastors & people as we continue to embark on this journey for newHOPE Nicaragua. They really did so much in a week and were all over the place- but these capture just some of the moments.

They were actually able to meet with the team that is in Managua (capital city) working with Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners
Those ladies are showing Steve the project they are doing with sewing special fabric for burn victims to help heal wounds…such great stories and such an impact this organization is already doing all over Nicaragua.

Meeting with pastors and leaders in another city of Nicaragua, Esteli.

Alvaro and Steve did a lot of teaching/preaching and Alvaro did a lot of translating as you can imagine.

Going into many homes and hearing both testimonies and needs

These orange shirts were given to some of those in Nicaragua awhile back from our church here in Florida.  They wear them to show a distinction when they are helping and/or doing services in the community. 'outreach' to the community is a VERY new thing to many and its creating an exciting 'buzz' within the city.

Steve never wanting to miss an opportunity to talk with people…always wanting to share the love and hope of Christ.

They took along 50 pillowcase dresses made from a connection group of ladies from our church as well as other clothes, shoes, etc that several people gave to take and give to kids

Alvaro even got a chance to play some soccer with some kids up on Jesus Mountain

This is the room that kids meet in on Sundays for their time together at church.

This is the most recent church that is in process of being finished.

A big part of Alvaro's heart is to empower students and future generations…so they did get to visit and talk with several classes…this is an example of a 'classroom' in 'La Mia' (a community of Jalapa Nicaragua)

On the way back to Managua they got to visit a place where they make rosquillas. (like a cookie made from corn)

They also stopped at the SAME daycare center where Alvaro actually used to get taken to…and the lady in the right hand picture remembers taking care of him!!!!

This video was just quickly put together by a friend for the purpose to show our small group a little of what they did...
